Construction Clean Up Tips

What Are the Phases of Post-Construction Cleaning

For every construction contractor, giving the key to a new building or a renovated one is the ultimate for any client they are serving. However, after the construction, the work of a construction company is not yet complete. In order for the construction to be over, there is more work that needs to be done, such as complete construction clean up.

Post-construction cleaning is done to both new or renovated buildings. The word itself, “post-construction,” is universal, and understood by all. A construction contractor will often perform general cleaning of debris, however, detailed cleaning is not part of their job description, and is done by professionals. Below are a few of the cleaning

requirements that will have to be taken care of:

  • Walls need to be cleaned and be free of marks, dirt, and smudges, etc,.
  • Power washing needs to be done, in addition to the cleaning of windows, doors, and frames.
  • Plastic and sticker removal needs to be done on furniture, windows, and doors.
  • Dusting, wet and dry cleaning needs to be done on ceilings, lights, fans, and heaters.
  • Floors, must be free from debris, especially on the edges and in corners, in addition to being cleaned and polished.
  • Vacuuming.
  • Cleaning the trim work.
  • Threshold cleaning.
  • Cleaning all the appliances, cabinets, countertops, and shelves inside and out.
  • The proper disposal of all construction trash and debris.
  • Addressing safety issues, such as loose wires, and leaks with the construction contractors.
  • Making sure that all nails, screws, nuts, bolts, etc., have been picked up.
  • Final detail checking of the premises that include corners and inner surfaces once the cleaning has been completed.
